Met Gala 2025 Celebrates Black Style

The Met Gala is one of the most prominent events in the fashion world and is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, following the tradition of the first Monday in May. This year, the theme is "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" and the dress code is "Tailored for You." It promises an exhibition of outfits celebrating black tailoring and dandyism, paying tribute to the influence of the black community in fashion.

The event is organized by Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, and brings together around 600 influential figures from entertainment, fashion, music, and politics. Among the hosts are Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and LeBron James as honorary president. The Costume Institute exhibition, inaugurated with the gala, will be open to the public from May 10 to October 26, exploring fashion as a tool of resistance and identity, inspired by the book "Slaves to Fashion" by Monica L. Miller.

Although the gala itself is a private event and is not broadcast, the red carpet is the main focus. Guests interpret the dress code with looks ranging from tailored suits to bold reinterpretations of black dandyism.

Some personalities who stood out on the red carpet of the 2025 Met Gala include Alex Newell, Coco Jones, Lewis Hamilton, Whoopi Goldberg, Sadie Sink, Kara Young, Venus Williams, Lupita Nyong'o, Zoe Saldana, Pamela Anderson, Zendaya, Gigi Hadid, Jennie, Bad Bunny, Lorde, Joey King, Dua Lipa, Lisa, A$AP Rocky, J Balvin, Demi Moore, Sabrina Carpenter, Georgina Rodriguez, and Lana Del Rey.
